A Gentle 7-Day Decluttering Challenge for a Calmer Mind & Space
Do you ever feel like you're walking through a fog?
Maybe you're feeling unmotivated, mentally scattered, overwhelmed, or simply not quite like yourself.
Sometimes we immediately assume we need more sleep, a better routine, or another cup of coffee. And while persistent fatigue, brain fog, or changes in mood can certainly have physical or emotional causes worth discussing with a healthcare professional, sometimes it's also worth looking at something much simpler:
Your environment.
A cluttered space can make life feel surprisingly heavy.
Piles of laundry waiting to be folded. Papers covering the counter. A drawer you can barely close. Fifty screenshots you don't remember taking. That package you've been meaning to return for three weeks.
Individually, they're small.
Together, they can create a constant sense of unfinished business.
The Connection Between Your Space & How You Feel
At Charli Jade, we often look at wellness through the connection between mind, body, spirit, and environment.
From a holistic perspective, many people also think of their surroundings in terms of energy.
You've probably experienced something similar without ever calling it that.
Think about walking into a peaceful, uncluttered room.
You may find yourself relaxing almost immediately.
Now think about walking into a room filled with piles, unfinished projects, visual distractions, and things demanding your attention.
It can feel completely different.
Our surroundings affect what we're seeing, thinking about, and responding to throughout the day.
And sometimes creating a little more physical space can help us feel like we have a little more mental space, too.
You Don't Have to Declutter Your Entire Life
Here's where people tend to get stuck.
You decide you're going to "get organized."
Suddenly you're imagining color-coded closets, perfectly labeled pantry containers, an empty email inbox, and a home that looks suspiciously like nobody actually lives there.
That's not what we're doing.
The goal isn't perfection.
The goal is movement.
One drawer.
One surface.
One pile.
One unfinished task.
One little corner of your world.
When you complete something small, you create a sense of progress—and progress can make the next step feel easier.
So instead of trying to transform everything at once, let's spend the next seven days doing one small thing each day.
The Charli Jade 7-Day Energy Declutter Challenge
A gentle reset designed to create more space, reduce overwhelm, and bring a little more intention into your surroundings.

Day 1 — Clear One Surface
Choose one surface in your home.
It might be:
Your nightstand
Bathroom counter
Kitchen counter
Coffee table
Desk
Dresser
Remove everything from the surface and give it a quick cleaning.
Then be intentional about what you put back.
Ask yourself:
Does this need to live here?
You don't have to find the perfect home for everything today. We're simply creating one peaceful, uncluttered place.
Today's Intention
Create a little breathing room.
Take a moment when you're finished and notice how the cleared space makes you feel.
Day 2 — The One-Drawer Reset
Today we're tackling the clutter nobody sees.
Pick one drawer.
Yes, just one.
Maybe it's the infamous junk drawer. Perhaps it's your makeup drawer, bathroom drawer, kitchen utensil drawer, or desk drawer.
Take everything out and remove anything that is:
Expired
Broken
Empty
Unnecessary
Something you haven't used in ages
Put back what you actually need.
Today's Intention
Release what is no longer useful.
And resist the temptation to move on to the other twelve drawers.
They'll still be there tomorrow. Promise.
Day 3 — 10-Minute Digital Declutter
Clutter isn't always something we can physically touch.
Our phones and computers can become incredibly crowded too.
Set a timer for 10 minutes.
Choose ONE digital area to clean up:
Delete unnecessary screenshots.
Remove apps you don't use.
Clean up your computer desktop.
Organize one folder.
Delete duplicate photos.
Unsubscribe from a few unwanted emails.
When the timer goes off, stop.
This isn't supposed to turn into a four-hour investigation of photos from 2017.
Today's Intention
Create a little more mental clarity.
Day 4 — The Five-Item Clothing Sweep
Open your closet and find five things you no longer wear, need, or genuinely enjoy.
That's it.
Five.
Depending on the condition of each item, you might:
Donate it
Give it to someone
Recycle it
Sell it
Responsibly discard it
You don't need to empty the entire closet onto your bed.
We're keeping this manageable.
Today's Intention
Make room for what fits your life now.
Sometimes holding onto things simply because we might need them someday creates more burden than benefit.
Day 5 — Refresh a Stagnant Corner
Walk through your home and notice the places you normally ignore.
Is there a corner that feels forgotten?
Maybe there's a stack of things waiting to be dealt with, an empty corner that feels cold, or a little space that simply doesn't make you happy.
Clear it.
Then, if you'd like, add something that makes the space feel peaceful or uplifting.
Perhaps:
A plant
Fresh flowers
A favorite photograph
A candle
A small diffuser
A meaningful object
A comfortable chair
A basket to contain everyday items
You don't need to buy anything.
Sometimes simply removing what's unnecessary is enough.
Today's Intention
Bring intention back into your space.
Day 6 — Clear One Lingering Task
Today's clutter may not be sitting on your counter.
It might be sitting in your mind.
You know that little task you keep remembering at inconvenient moments?
"Oh! I still need to do that."
Today, choose one.
Pay the bill.
Return the package.
Make the phone call.
Schedule the appointment.
Send the email.
Fill out the form.
Put away the thing that's been sitting there for two weeks.
Choose something realistic that you can complete today.
Then do it.
Today's Intention
Close one open loop.
There is something wonderfully satisfying about finally crossing off a task that has been quietly following you around.
Day 7 — Create Your Calm Space
You've spent six days clearing little pieces of your environment.
Today, we're going to create something.
Choose one small place in your home to become your personal calm space.
It doesn't need to be an entire room.
It could simply be:
Your favorite chair
A bedside table
A sunny corner
A small meditation area
A reading nook
A comfortable spot near a window
Make it somewhere you can intentionally slow down.
You might add things that feel meaningful or soothing to you, such as:
A journal
A comfortable blanket
A favorite book
Flowers or greenery
Crystals
Essential oils
A candle
Meditation cards
A cup of herbal tea
Then spend a few quiet minutes there.
No cleaning.
No organizing.
No scrolling.
Just be there.
Today's Intention
Create space for yourself, too.
What Did You Notice?
After seven days, take a look around.
Your entire house probably isn't perfectly organized.
Good.
That was never the goal.
Instead, ask yourself:
Does anything feel different?
Maybe your bedroom feels calmer because the nightstand isn't overflowing.
Maybe opening that newly organized drawer makes you strangely happy.
Maybe you've stopped thinking about the appointment you finally scheduled.
Or perhaps you've discovered that accomplishing one small thing makes you feel motivated to tackle another.
That's the real lesson of this challenge.
You don't always need a dramatic overhaul to create change.
Sometimes you simply need to start moving.
One drawer.
One corner.
One task.
One intentional choice at a time.
🌿 Small changes can create space for something new.
Keep Going—Gently
If the seven-day challenge felt good, don't immediately turn it into a 365-day organizational boot camp.
Choose one small decluttering ritual you can realistically maintain.
Maybe that's:
Ten minutes every Sunday evening
One drawer each week
A monthly closet sweep
Five minutes of digital cleanup
Clearing the kitchen counters before bed
The best routine isn't the most impressive one.
It's the one you'll actually keep doing.

Final Thoughts
Our surroundings don't have to be picture-perfect to support our well-being.
A home is meant to be lived in.
But when your environment begins to feel overwhelming, creating even a little order can give you an opportunity to slow down, reset, and become more intentional about the space around you.
So if you're feeling overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done, forget everything for a moment.
What's one small thing you could clear today?
Start there.
